Philosophy of Educational Technology
Educational Technology is the means by which learning is improved with the use and management of all relevant technological
devices, practices and other resources. This would of course include the use of computer hardware and software, and Internet
applications, and is all embracing and covers a far more broad spectrum.
In fact, any tool, device, implement or other resources, which influence student behaviour, enhances learning outcomes or positively
impacts the process is considered part of the technology. The term however, also includes not just machines and devices but
encompasses related systems, methodologies and techniques. In fact, the perspective on educational technology
should be broadened to encompass all possible entities which in any way positively impacts learning potential.
Such tools of course will include calculators, laptops and smartphones, overhead projectors and screens, range of audio visual
equipment. Educational CDs and DVDs, online and offline games, etc. The use of technology in today's world is more prevalent when
compared to years gone by. Therefore, today's students should not be subjected to just the conventional "chalk and talk" we are used
to.
